Hard To Believe It Is Mid-March

BUT it is and it is time for me to help reveal the new sketch challenge at Sketch N Scrap!  Layering papers can be tricky but a lot of fun - check out this great sketch by the talented Heather Hall!

Here is my example:

I feel that by simply layering different papers - you create a visually interesting page!  I added a ribbon and some ink to my journaling.  I also was a little creative with my headline by taking a "bite" out of my "C" - which is simply cut by hand.

I hope you can join me on this fun challenge.  Links ae due March 31st!

Materials Used:  American Crafts - DIY Shop papers, Echo Park - Getaway paper, cardstock, ribbon, Close To My Heart cocoa ink, and Cricut Bernard MT Condensed font.

Animals...

Who doesn't love animals?  I found a challenge blog that focuses on animals - Crafty Animals!  How cool is that?  The current challenge is Anything Goes - as long as the project relates to animals.  So, how perfect is this layout for the challenge?

If you have an animal crafty project to share, why not link it up by February 27th?

Materials Used: unknown manufacturer of paper, Cloud9 Girl Epoxy stickers, Doodlebug Design Inc - Flower Sequins, Bo Bunny flower, cardstock, and Thickers - Rockabye alphabet.

For DT Eyes Only

I found a blog that offers challenges for anyone on a Design Team - the name - Classic Design Team Challenge Blog.  How perfect for me!  The current challenge is Anything Goes.  I created this page using watercolors and I think it goes perfectly with the theme of the layout - RAIN!  Check it out...

If you are on a Design Team - anywhere - feel free to join me here!  This months entries are due by February 27th.

Materials Used: cardstock, brads, watercolors, and Thickers - Amy Tangerine/Everyday.

Anything Goes

Found a new challenge site (at least new to me) called Your Scrapbook Place.  The current challenge is easy - it is "Anything Goes."  I have mentioned this before, but I love including my children's artwork into my albums.  So this is a perfect page to submit to this challenge.  Here is Elizabeth's masterpiece:

If you would like to join me in this challenge, be sure to link up by February 27th.

Materials Used:  Krylon Acid-Free spray, cardstock, Crayola Die Cut title, and Thickers - Rockabye alphabet.

It's All About Love

To me, there is nothing more that scream love - than a Father/Daughter Dance.  Even more so, when Dad needs to be a pirate!  I created this layout for the challenge over at Scrapping 4 Fun Challenges.  The current challenge is to create a layout, card, canvas, album, mixed media, or even "off the page" creation about Love, Valentine, Wedding, or Friendship.

This is my layout:

To join this challenge - hurry the links close on February 15th.

Materials Used:  Pink Paislee - Cottage Farms paper and rub-on, Sizzix Original Die - File Folder, cardstock, Tim Holtz/Idea-ology - Film Strip Ribbon, Cloud9 Design - Girl Epoxy Sticker, and Thickers - Rockabye alphabet.

Let's Get Sketchy

Let's Get Sketchy has another great sketch challenge up!  Here is the sketch and my layout:

I made some minor adjustments to accommodate the materials at hand.  I wanted to use up my Girl Scout papers but as you can see I only had strips left.  So my background is about the same size but just strips of paper.  I also moved my embellishment cluster up on the page so that they could be seen better.

I hope you can join me on this challenge - links are due February 28th.

Materials Used: cardstock, K&Co Girl Scout papers and embellishments, and ribbon.

Being Inspired by History!

Over at Grand Diva's Creative Corner, the challenge is to pick one of the "This Month In History" items.  There are four to choose from.  I selected #3:

#3 ~ February 22, 1879 ~ F.W. Woolworth opens "The Great Five Cent Store" in Utica, NY.  It failed in six months, but the second store he opened in June of the same year seemed to catch on.
Create a layout and you must use
5 or more different types of embellishments
and/or
5 or more different patterned papers.

I used five different embellishments on my layout (embroidery thread, pearls, vellum, brad, and banners/flags).  This is what I created:

I hope you can join me on this challenge - links are due February 28th.

It is A Girl Thing!

The challenge over at ARTastic is a fun one and inspired by a colorful ceramic piece.  Here is a photo:

This image reminds me of being oneself and have a blast doing it!  It has inspired me to showcase my daughter doing just that - being herself and simply loving life.  Here is my double-page layout:

Hope you can join me on this fun challenge.  Hurry though - links are due February 15th (Australia time).

Materials Used:  cardstock, Me & My Big Ideas - Hello Beautiful Mambi sheets, twine, Petalaloo - Dahlia/Pink flowers, Making Memories - Garden Party stickers, vellum title, foam tabs, and several border punches.

Love Bling!

Over at Archi-Scraps, the team hosts a challenge based on an architectural photo.  This month's photo is super cool and lends itself to the current challenge - use lots of rhinestones and bling.  Here is the photo and my layout:

I decided to use a lot of glitter and a few rhinestones on this layout.  What girl doesn't love bling of any kind?  LOL!  I hope you can join me on this very fun layout!  Links are due February 27th.

Materials Used:  Ribbon, rhinestones, old chipboard flowers, Doodlebug Design Inc. - Flower Sequins, cardstock, and Me & My Big Ideas - Hello Beautiful Mambi Sheets.

All About Purple...

Today's challenge at Lasting Memories is all about purple!  Here is the color board challenge and my work:

As you can tell, I think I captured the purple theme!  I have to admit the hardest part of this layout was the headline.  Getting the right color and size was a burden and then placement - let's just say it wasn't my day and my Cricut was busy.  Another note, I added more mist after I put the pictures down.  I thought I had covered the photos well but apparently the spray was much larger than I predicted.  Unfortunately, the photos were a little damaged.  UGH.  Lesson learned - COVER EVERYTHING - or - don't do it!  Funny thing though - you can't even really see the mist in the photo!

Can't wait to see your purple layouts!  Links are due February 24th.

Materials Used: old papers - I mean really old, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Dazzling Diamonds, Prima Marketing - Labelle Cerise flowers, gems, Sizzix Original Die - Flower/Build A Lilac and Flowers and Vine #2, and Cricut Font - Babysteps.

When Was The Last Time You Just Used Plain Cardstock?

I didn't realize I was using just plain cardstock until I was just about done with this layout!  It has been a long time since I have done that!  Nice change of pace...

In any case, I am here to help reveal the new challenge at Sketch N Scrap.  The sketch challenge is posted below followed by my layout:

No automatic alt text available.

I tried something new and attached my banner together with brads.  I think I will do that again!  Other than adding extra cardstock and extra photos to the layout - I followed the sketch to the T!  I hope you can join us in this challenge, links are due January 31st.

Materials Used: cardstock, brads, and Doodlebug Design Inc. - Hopscotch alphabet.

What Are You Dreaming About?

I am happy to help reveal the new challenge at Lasting Memories.  Challenge # 378 is to use the word  "dream" on your layout.  Dream can be in your title, journaling, or even as a design element!

I choose to use dream in my title and this is what I created:

The original base paper had a design element printed in the center bottom.  I wasn't a fan of the design so I placed a number of embellishments on top to cover it up!  I can't wait to see your "dreamy" layouts!  (Sorry - couldn't resist!)  Be sure to link up by January 27th!

Materials Used:  Webster's Pages - Everyday Poetry paper, DCWV paper, Webster's Pages Journaling card, Webster's Pages - Storytellers alphabet, Studio G pearls, silk flower, and Petaloo flower (white).
